First Blog-what inspired it all

To myself more than likely- I created this blog for many reasons, one being that I have all these creative ideas and never have the time nor make the effort to pursue them when the arise. This would be me taking hold of this opportunity. In this blog I will share some of my life experiences that inspire me to (a). do new things, (b). try new things (c). have fun while doing and trying new things. :) Sometimes, my mind goes off on tangents and I loose track of the ideas I have because of that. This could be a good way to re-trace the tangents by reading what I write and hopefully making some sense of it all.

Tonight, I was inspired to learn how to make mixed drinks. I work at an Italian restaurant and banquet facility (not mentioning names!) where I am a server in the banquet halls for occasions such as weddings, birthday parties, baby showers, and the like. Tonight, the assistant manager called out for personal reasons and I suddenly became a "Junior Bartender", according to my boss. One hour before leaving for work, I sat down at my trusty Gateway laptop and started to type in the google search engine things such as "most common drink orders" or "Top 10 drinks every bartender should know", I even took out my android phone and downloaded an app. for mixed drinks. pretty cool that it came up when I had just typed in barte... there it was...bartenders friend, bartenders bible...etc.

Now, I know what some of you reading this are thinking- that is, if anyone ever does-. You should not be making mixed drinks, you are under age. Well, yes...but legally I can bar tend, I just cannot taste my own drinks. This could be good and bad, depending on the customer and if they are familiar with what the taste of there order should be. I don't try my own drinks, but I just have to say that when I can I will be learning how to make whatever might look good or sound good to me. For now, the most exotic drink will be the most exotic someone orders and I am forced to make. One more year to go...almost. not really *rolls eyes*

Long story short, it was a disappointing night. I made one mixed drink (bay breeze) and someone ordered black label whiskey. zzz boring zzz this all happened because my boss warned them they had a "junior bartender" and that I would get her if they ordered a mixed drink. Because of that they opened a tab for wine, beer and soda. lots of bottle popping and cork twisting and pouring, no mixing : / my hopes in learning a little more about mixology are that I can (a). get more hours at work (b) learn a new trade, and (c) be full of random useless information that MIGHT somehow be useful in the future...hmm *thinks*

Well, to wrap things up I'm going to make this a short blog because my best inspiration tends to come when I am tired and it is one in the morning. Lets continue this conversation another time, shall we?
